Season 9 of American Idol is Simon Cowell’s last season of the show, and is also the inaugural show featuring comedian Ellen DeGeneres instead of Paula Abdul.
Paula fans are disappointed that their favorite loopy yet lovable judge will no longer be on the show. Simon Cowell fans are still in shock over the British judge’s decision.

After American Idol tonight, many are wondering who will replace Simon Cowell as the next judge. It’s even scarier to think that Cowell is leaving Idol in favor of a new show, X Factor, which is also a singing show. Will X Factor be the next singing sensation? Will it be the death of American Idol?
American Idol tonight showcases auditions from Boston. There will be plenty of awful singing, and probably some pretty good singing as well. It won’t be later in the season until we see stars start to shine.
